VISION ORION

VISION ORION is a project that began as a bachelor thesis in the Industrial Design program in Basel and was supported by the Swiss cultural promotion organization Pro Helvetia. It explores what a future-oriented streetlight for the city of tomorrow could look like – and what functions it might integrate. Designed for company parking lots and public parking areas in urban environments, Vision Orion targets locations where vehicles are typically parked for extended periods – ideal conditions for charging electric vehicles. Current data show a growing demand for charging infrastructure precisely in these areas. Vision Orion addresses this need and offers an innovative solution that combines functional performance with design sensitivity, contributing to the sustainability of our cities. Additionally, Vision Orion was developed to help reduce light pollution in urban spaces. Equipped with sensors that measure sky brightness, the luminaire supports the data infrastructure of the "smart city." Its modular system allows for flexible adaptation to various urban requirements – through the simple exchange or extension of individual components.
